What is it about pets?
We, as a nation, adore them. The UK pet industry is worth a staggering £4-5 billion a year, and a recent survey by the Telegraph reveal that 2/3 of pet owners found their pets to be ‘beloved members of the family.’ We shower our pets with anything they need and ask for nothing in return aside from their companionship and loyalty come rain, snow or shine. Pets are expensive, but the price on the tag almost always comes secondary to that of our pet’s happiness. We buy pet products because we love our pets. It’s that simple.
At Catipilla, we’re no different. Above anything else we’re pet people, and whilst our first product is focused on cats, our vision extends far beyond the needs of just our feline friends. We love animals of all shapes and sizes and are lucky enough to share our home with a few ourselves.
As you can see from the photos, we have a number of animal companions that we consider part of the family. Blue is the Great Dane, as stubborn as she is long-logged and Nala is the Malamute-Cross, a gentle giant with a loyal nature. Willow is our camera-friendly Tabby, who enjoys the limelight more than most. Our other cats prefer a solitary life but we love them all the same. Catipilla was created for their benefit, but also to solve a real life problem for a particularly elderly cat that we shared an affectionate bond with. Her ageing hips had forced our vet to ask a difficult question and if not for that affectionate bond, we might well have taken a different decision. Instead we took her home, built a cat ladder and she lived happily for another year.
Whilst the Catipilla Pro was built for the benefit of one elderly cat, we now want to mass-produce Catipilla for the benefit of all cats. Whilst our initial focus is on our feline friends, we have other ideas that will improve the lives of pets in other ways. Thats for the future though. For now, we’re focused on Catipilla and there’s lots of work to do.
So, our motivation is relatively straightforward: To improve the lives of pets and bring new ideas to pet owners throughout the country.
